Celebrating 29 May
Thanks to the generosity of almost 1,000 alumni and supporters, staff and students are benefiting from £1.149 million donated to our Set the Pace philanthropic campaign.
These ‘unrestricted’ gifts will support the areas of greatest need, driving vital research in areas from Peace Making and Critical Arts, to Fair and Sustainable Business.
Professor Tim Lockley, Head of Department for History, says: “The arts are one of the UK’s greatest strengths, and Warwick is a thriving and exciting place to come to study the arts and humanities. This funding will only help us to cement that position further.”
The funds will also support and enhance the Warwick Student Experience through programmes including Thrive and TeamWork. These particular programmes are not only funded by donors, but also made possible by volunteers, many of whom are alumni. Together, they create invaluable experiences for students, building skills and confidence vital for their future careers.
As Inca (BSc Psychology, 2022; MASC Community, Engagement and Belonging, 2024) says: “Being involved in the TeamWork programme impacted me in a really positive way. I gained cultural awareness, communication, and coordination. I developed the confidence that it's OK to be a leader."
Why do we mark the 29 May?
We mark this special date in our history to thank all those whose generosity continues to make an impact at Warwick, notably The 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust, whose support has helped shape the University since its foundation, and to celebrate the special and transformative power of philanthropy.
