MSc Environmental Biosciences in a Changing Climate, 2024

What is your current job or area of study?

I am a Sustainability Reporting Analyst at Dentsu, where I manage the collection, compilation, analysis, and assurance of Scope 1-3 emissions data for the company’s global offices. I collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting using Salesforce Net Zero Cloud and Excel. I also support the preparation of corporate sustainability reporting for the 2025 financial year, focusing on value chain and vendor mapping, audits, and other sustainability reporting activities.

Why did you choose your degree subject and why did you choose Warwick?

This degree and its subject matter aligned with my career aspirations of improving agricultural practices and creating a more sustainable supply chain within the fashion and food industries. I ultimately aspire to work in sustainability strategy in either food or fashion, and when I found this course, it was a perfect fit. After speaking with Hendrik Schaefer on the phone, and having a one-on-one tour with Rob Lillywhite (who later became my project supervisor), I was sold on Warwick.

Tell us about your favourite memory of your degree

My favourite memory was being able to work with a prolific non-governmental organisation, Better Cotton Initiative, on a project aimed at driving real-world, tangible change for cotton farmers across the United States.

How did you fill your time outside of your studies?

I played for Warwick Lacrosse in the Men's 1st team, participating in both the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and the South of England Men's Lacrosse Association (SEMLA) leagues on Wednesdays and Sundays, respectively.

Tell us about what happened after graduation. How did you get to your current role?

I completed my degree in August, following the submission of my research project. I interviewed with several firms, but in mid-September, I ran a quick process with Dentsu's Sustainability Reporting team and was ultimately offered a six-month internship, along with two other recent graduates from different universities.

What’s your proudest achievement so far?

I had previously attempted a similar Master's degree in 2019/20 but withdrew due to the pandemic's impact on my mental health. Being able to return to university to not only complete my degree, but also to achieve a distinction, is by far my proudest achievement, as I proved to myself that I am capable of it!
