Olympics Memories – flying the birthday flag for Great Britain!

My story is of the last day of the 2012 London Olympics - August 12th, my special decade birthday celebration, all organised by my daughter. We went to see the women's modern pentathlon, fencing and swimming all at the Olympic village, and the other three disciplines (show jumping, running and then shooting) were at Greenwich.

It was a hot & sunny afternoon in the grandstand in Greenwich with thousands of people attending. The games master announced over the tannoy that there were so many thousands of people there that day, so the law of averages would mean that there would be so many people who were celebrating a birthday. He wanted us all with a birthday that day to stand up. I duly did; raising and waving my huge Union Jack flag that I had! It was a special moment to remember and a wonderful celebration for my birthday, and all the others too who were standing and had birthdays that day! 😊
