Elaine's new book on old spouse carers

Elaine Argyle (MA Social Work, 1997)

As a postgraduate social work student at Warwick, I wrote my dissertation on the experiences of unpaid carers. I further pursued this interest both as a practitioner and as a PhD student and postdoctoral researcher at several UK universities. This has now culminated in a book which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in July, 2024 entitled 'Inside the World of Older Spouse Carers'. Its aims are: -To explore the neglected experiences of older spouse carers and highlight the positive social contribution they make -To challenge assumptions about older spouse carers and older people more generally -To transcend the fragmentation in focus and theory that has often characterised approaches to unpaid care and older age Further details can be found via the following link: https://link.springer.com/book/9783031615771
