Module Tutor: A Practical Guide to British Cultural Management

The 10 week module aims to:

  • Illustrate how cultural policy is implemented in practice in the United Kingdom, with particular focus on the structure of cultural administration in England
  • Explore the nature of the UK cultural sector, including the relationship between different areas of subsidised and unsubsidised activity
  • Examine the mechanics of cultural administration from the point of view of both the arts organisations and the cultura bureaucracy

6 seminar sessions provide an overview of the arts and cultural sector in the UK through examining the:

Workshop Facilitator: How to Write a Research Proposal

The aims of the workshop are to :

  • Create a space for students to discuss their proposals for their Major Projects
  • Provide students with an informal opportunity to examine their research topics
  • Allow students to share and receive feedback from their peers

During the workshop, students are encouraged to work together in order to:

  • Examine the key components of what constitutes a research proposal
  • Determine the key research questions and their rationales of their topic
  • Contextualise their topic within wider research and examine possible methodologies
  • Outline and structure their project
