Warwick Classics Travelling Museum
Thanks to a grant from the Warwick Innovation Fund, the WCN and Dept of Classics and Ancient History have created teaching resources based on artefacts in our collection. These consist of themed topics for teaching, each linked to specific objects, with the objects and descriptions viewable online, with an aim to develop this as soon as circumstances allow into a travelling collection for sessions in schools. The resources can be used however without access to the artefacts. Thank you to our amazing Undergraduate students Jasmine, Kelsi, Richa, Rhys and Simonne and to Postgrad Jacqui Butler for putting these fantastic resources together! Pupils will learn about and be able to handle real objects from our collection, and we will be developing more travelling collections based on artefacts from the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and Warwickshire Museum linked to Roman Coventry as part of our Roman Coventry 2021 project.
We are also pleased to announce that the WCN Roman Coventry Project has received funding from the Classical Association and the Arts Impact Fund at the University of Warwick. This will allow us to create our online resources and lessons in tandem with the WMG, Herbert Gallery and Warwickshire Museum, as well as organising school events in 2021. So watch this space for more travelling artefact projects!
