Aldo Leopold's Sand County Almanac is a compilation of pieces by the author, with the title's calendar of months making up the first part. Of the second, the two sections to focus on are "Thinking Like a Mountain" and "The Land Ethic."

We'll read these in conjunction with two important articles, Cronon's critique of wilderness ideology in the North American context, and Guha's corrective to the dominance of Global North perspectives on environmentalism.
