Department Spaces

The English & Comparative Literary Studies Department is based on the fifth floor of the Faculty of Arts Building University of Warwick Map on Central Campus. This space occupied by the English & Comparative Literary Studies Department is predominantly staff offices, but also includes the spaces and facilities listed below. Any issues regarding card access should be reported to the Head of Operations (a.e.humber@warwick.ac.uk in the first instance.

  • Student Administration Office (FAB5.42 - card access)
    The Student Administration Office is open for in-person enquiries 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm Monday-Friday during term-time. The office may be closed at certain times during the university vacation periods – details can be found here - Contact us - Department of English - University of Warwick
  • Bookable Meeting Rooms (FAB5.31 and FAB6.06 - card access)
    The English Department has two bookable meeting rooms. These are primarily used for office hours for non-permanent staff and ad hoc meetings - only suitable for small meetings – up to 9 people. Staff can check the availability of the rooms online
  • Student Hub (FAB5.49 - card access)
    The English & Comparative Literary Studies Student Hub is an open-plan workroom for all English Literature students and some joint degree students. The Hub can be booked for events, but this is kept to a minimum so that students are able to use it as a workroom for the majority of the time. Staff can check availability here add in new link? and book to use it when it is available.
  • Staff Common Room (FAB5.40 - card access)
    This common room is available to all English Department staff and PGR students. Is a quiet area to meet if required.
  • Kitchen facilities. (FAB5.71 – card access) Includes kitchen facilities, i.e. microwave, fridge, hot water. There is also a cold water fountain located around the corner from room FAB5.30. Staff are responsible for their own washing up and should dispose of all personal unwanted/out of date items in the fridge themselves.
  • UG and PG Workspaces -( all card access)
    There are two large quiet study areas restricted to students from the Department of English & Comparative Literary Studies – these are based on the 5th floor, and one is shared with The History of Art. These require card access. Other communal spaces on the 5th floor are available to all students as no card access is required.
