Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence - Dr Mark Storey

Professor Christina Hughes, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) and chair of the WATE judging panel, commented, "The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence highlight the efforts all our teaching staff make to provide outstanding learning environments for our students. We are justifiably proud of this year’s winners and commendees, all of whom exemplify Warwick’s commitment to fostering our students’ successes."

The award panel writes, "Mark sees teaching as an opportunity to talk about something he loves with people who want to listen. It's also a chance not just to 'impart knowledge', but to discuss and develop ideas, have his own sureties challenged, and learn something new from hisstudents. For this reason he believes less in "research-led teaching" than in teaching and research as inextricable from one another: the classroom as a space to test his research as it changes and progresses, but also to find it questioned or pushed in new directions. He always tries to approach the classroom as a space where everyone might be excited to explore new ways of thinking and find their view of the world changed."
