PGR Work in Progress Sessions

Work in Progress

History PG Sessions

History PGR Work in Progress sessions are intended to provide doctoral researchers with a platform to come together, share work and research questions, and receive feedback from peers. Each week a PhD student provides a flash paper or short piece of writing relevant to their current work which we discuss in the session. Past participants have shared draft chapters, papers and articles from all stages of the thinking and writing process.

All History PGRs are invited to attend and no in-depth subject knowledge is required. We discuss methodological questions, research issues, and provide a platform for PGRs to interact. The meetings are a great opportunity to get involved in the postgraduate community and meet researchers across the department.

Introductory Session, 12 October 2026

Join us in person in FAB3.31 for the first WIP session of the 2026/2027 academic year, to be held on Monday, 12 October 2025 at 5–6.30pm.

During this introductory session we’ll catch up with returning PGs, welcome new additions to the community, and discuss what research everyone got up to over the summer. All postgraduates are encouraged to attend and share their work, no matter how unfinished, and any and all ideas and suggestions for future topics and speakers are welcome!
