Visiting Students

Welcome

Welcome to the University of Warwick! We hope you enjoy your time in the History Department. On this page, you will find links to key information that will help you to navigate the department, your modules, and our processes. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Induction and Support Schedule 2024/25

If you are arriving in September, you will receive emails from the Warwick Welcome Week team to all of our induction events. If you are arriving in January, you will receive an email from the History Department regarding your induction. For your information, the key events are listed below:

Module Allocation and Registration

Visiting students based in History will have their History module allocations confirmed via email over the summer. If you wish to change your modules, please email HistoryModules@warwick.ac.uk stating your preferred choices. If you wish to change your modules to a higher level than those you have been allocated, please contact Jonathan Davies for prior approval.

Visiting students based in departments other than history should email HistoryModules@warwick.ac.uk stating their module preferences and reserve options in case preferred modules are full. Students based in other departments will also need to forward on written permission from their home department at Warwick allowing them to take their chosen modules.

Students based in History will have their modules registered for them by the History Office during Welcome Week. Any students based in other departments who are taking History modules will need to follow their home department’s instructions for module registration.

Assessment and Deadlines 2024/25

  • Full year students taking 30 CATS modules will complete the same assessment as home students
  • Students visiting for just one term should only enrol on 15 CATS modules. Any visiting students on a 15 CATS module will complete the same assessment as home students.

Personal Tutoring

All students at Warwick are assigned an academic member of staff to act as their personal tutor. The personal tutor for all visiting students in the History Department is Tim Lockley, Head of Department.
