Theatre during the Napoleonic period

The work at Portchester developed out of a much bigger, AHRC-funded project to look at French Theatre during the Napoleonic period.

The original research team - Kate Astbury (PI), Katherine Hambridge (PostDoctoral Research Assistant), Clare Siviter and Dexon Cox were subsequently joined by 3 more PostDocs, Vincenzo di Santis, Sarah Burdett and Diane Tisdall and a Marie Sklowdoska-Curie fellow Paola Perazzolo. Paola was able to build on initial work by the team to create a calendar of performances for Paris for the Consulate, 1799-1802 as research into theatre during the Napoleonic period is significantly hampered by the absence of a list of performances. The database, which we will be adding to in due course can be found here:
