Shout out Loud and Discovery days

Kate Astbury and Abigail Coppins have worked with English Heritage's Shout out Loud youth engagement team on a number of projects, including the Freedom and Photography project with Photoworks in 2024 and the Freedom and Revolution project with the National Youth Theatre in 2020-21.

Kate and Abigail have also helped shape the delivery of Discovery days for schools at Portchester Castle and train the volunteers delivering tours on site. There are both KS2 and KS4 discovery days focusing on the prisoners of war and local schools use the site as part of the local history element of GCSE history.
