About

I am a PhD student in Translation and Transcultural Studies at the University of Warwick, under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Summers and Dr. Zhiyan Guo

Research

My research links up with issues of agency in translation, and takes an agent-oriented comparison of contemporary Chinese women’s writings published by Chinese government-backed publishers and Anglophone publishers (mainly UK and US commercial and academic publishers) during the late twentieth century. It draws on Baker’s narrative theory to explore multiple mediating agents (e.g., translators, publishers, and editors)’ tendencies in selecting women’s writings for translation and publication as well as their specific textual and paratextual mediation of the selected female writings, such as the writings by Zhang Jie (张洁) , Wang Anyi (王安忆), and Chen Ran (陈染), among others. The (re)framed narratives by agents and contextual factors behind agents' publications are also examined.
