German and Business Studies

This degree combines studies in German language, culture and contemporary society with in-depth teaching in many varied areas of business practice. You will spend one half of your year abroad studying at a university in a German-speaking country, and the other half on a work placement. Alongside specialist business language classes, you will study in your first year the history and culture of German society since 1945. In your second year you will explore culture and society in the Weimar Republic and under National Socialism. In your final year you can choose from a range of options, and you will take Business and Society in Contemporary Germany, an interdisciplinary module co-taught by specialists from both departments. In Business Studies, you can take many different pathways through your course including human resource management, accounting, finance, principles of organisational behaviour, production and operations management, industrial relations, corporate strategy, and auditing.
