Higher Education Languages Taster Day for Y12 students
As part of our outreach work at the University of Warwick we are delighted to invite Year 12 students in the West Midlands studying a Modern Foreign Language to a Higher Education Languages Taster Day. The aim of this day is for students to gain an insight into what it is like to study languages at university by attending specially developed sessions run by lecturers in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. It will be a fantastic enrichment opportunity for students and an ideal experience to reflect on as part of UCAS Personal Statements
The event will take place on Friday 7th June 2024 10am-4:30pm
and will include university seminar style classes and taster sessions, a talk from current students and admissions staff about studying languages at university and refreshments and an optional campus tour at the end of the day. Students should bring their own packed lunch. Please note, we are very pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to schools free of charge as part of our widening participation and outreach work, therefore we ask that students only sign up if they are committed to attending as places are limited.
Attendees are required to make their own way to the event unless your child’s school has offered to provide transport. Further information about how to get to campus will be communicated to attendees via e-mail once places are confirmed and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
For full details of sessions and to sign up please click here. We advise that teachers share the sign up link with their students as they will need to personally select their sessions in advance on the form. This year we are very pleased to offer CPD sessions for staff attending, details of these will be confirmed closer to the date. The deadline to apply is Friday 24 May 2024.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions
