ESRC DTP Pathways offered at the University of Warwick
Applied Linguistics
Structure of provision: +3, +3.5, 1+3 either Full-time or Part-time
Prospective students wishing to apply for funding under the Applied Linguistics pathway should submit an application for one of the following: MPhil/PhD in Applied Linguistics, MPhil/PhD in Discourse Studies, MPhil/PhD in English Language Teaching, MPhil/PhD in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics or MPhil/PhD in Intercultural Communication depending on your area of research interests within Applied Linguistics.

Economic & Social History
Structure of provision: +3, +3.5, 1+3 either Full-time or Part-time
Prospective students wishing to apply for funding under the Economic & Social History pathway should submit an application for a MPhil/PhD in History.

Economics
Structure of provision: +3, +3.5, 1+3 either Full-time or Part-time
Prospective students wishing to apply for funding under the Economics pathway at Warwick will need to be currently undertaking the MRes Programme, which precedes the PhD research programme in Economics and is a compulsory part of the Economics PhD offering at the University of Warwick. Where a student has completed an MRes elsewhere, incoming students may request a waiver for direct entry to the PhD.
Prospective students who wish to undertake a PhD in Economics at the University of Warwick should apply to undertake the MRes programme. The Department of Economics may offer funding opportunities to students who are offered a place on the MRes programme. If a student is offered financial support for the MRes this will consist of a fee waiver and a maintenance award from the Economics Department. During the second year of the MRes, eligible students can apply for ESRC DTP funding under the Economics Pathway.

Management & Business Studies and Finance

Management & Business Studies
Prospective students wishing to apply for funding under the Management & Business Studies branch of the pathway at Warwick will need to apply to either Warwick Business School (WBS) or the Warwick Institute for Employment Research (IER), depending on your area of research interests within Management & Business Studies. The application process will vary depending on which department you are applying to, so please read the below carefully.
Prospective students who wish to undertake a PhD in Business & Management in WBS should apply to undertake the MRes programme of the MRes/PhD Business & Management, which precedes the PhD research programme in Business & Management and is a compulsory part of the Business & Management PhD offering at WBS. The MRes is fully funded by WBS and this support consists of a full fee waiver and a maintenance award. During the second year of the MRes, eligible students can apply for ESRC DTP funding for their PhD under the Management & Business Studies branch of the pathway.
The MRes and PhD are intended as full-time programmes, as WBS want their students to become full members of their academic community. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for successful MGS students, students with caring responsibilities, and individuals with specific circumstances. You can apply to study part-time for the whole or part of the PhD element of the programme (final three years).
Prospective students wishing to apply for funding under the Management & Business Studies branch of the pathway in IER should submit an application for a MPhil/PhD in Employment Research.
