Aims and Learning Outcomes

On completion of the module, you should be able to

  • Maintain clinical records, following best-practice standards
  • Demonstrate rigorous clinical reasoning and decision-making
  • Undertake clinical assessment demonstrating appropriate evaluation of evidence from, for example, history, examination and investigations, with an appropriate spread of suggestions in the differential diagnosis
  • Undertake risk assessment leading to an appropriate management plan, including consideration of risks to the patient and others
  • Investigate and refer taking appropriate account of the views of relatives, carers and any other relevant third parties
  • Undertake care planning, including appropriate arrangements made, recorded and communicated for follow up over the full period of a treatment programme
  • Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with a wide range of audiences, including other health professionals, patients and carers
  • Demonstrate professional standards in all aspects of orthodontic therapeutic practice
  • Evaluate own practice through critical reflection on a range of performance evidence and identify priorities for ongoing professional development
