Extreme performance mass spectrometry for metals in biology and medicine
Supervisor: Peter J. Sadler and Pete O'Connor Sponsor: Bruker
The aims of the project are:
- To develop state-of-the-art methods for the analysis of metals in anticancer compounds and in their adducts with biomolecules such as peptides, proteins and DNA.
- To analyse complex mixtures containing adducts of metallodrugs with biomolecules such as cell culture media and cancer cells.
- To develop new methods for the sample fragmentation, acquisition and processing of high resolution MS data, that will allow identification of the metal, its oxidation state and the bound ligands.
