Phd Student

Chris (or Christos) is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of the University of Ioannina. He pursued a MSc in Biochemistry, and his research was focused on studying the biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. A MIBTP scholarship from BBSRC gave him the chance to move to the UK and elaborate his PhD thesis in Tim Bugg’s group. The aim of his PhD thesis is to elucidate the metabolic pathways by which oxidised lignin fragments are converted into monocyclic aromatics and to apply these new pathways to metabolic engineering.
