Publication accepted in Chem. Comm

Collaborative work with the O'Reilly Group here at Warwick has been accepted for publication in Chemical Communications. This work describes the effect of nanoparticle size on its Lower Critical Solution Temperature (LCST) behaviour. Critically, we show that increased nanoparticle size leads to a large decrease in the observerd transition temperature for both hard (gold nanoparticle) and soft (block copolymer micelles) nanoparticles, coated with different thermoresponsive polymers. This is signifcant as it shows that polymers on nanoparticle surfaces do not behaviour as they do free in solution and has implications for the design of 'smart' nanoarticles particularly for biological applications
