Dr. Mathew Jones

Biography
 
Mathew Wynne Jones was born in Carmarthen, Wales and attended Ysgol Gyfun Bro Myrddin secondary school.
 
He started his Masters Degree at the University of Warwick in 2002 and graduated in 2006 with 1st Class Honours with a Masters in Chemistry with Professional Experience.
 
During his undergraduate degree, Mathew spent 6 months working in industry at Warwick Effect Polymers LTD developing and optimising strategies for the synthesis of functional polymers by atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP). Mathew also spent 6 months working on a final year project with Dr. Andrew Dove, synthesising functional cyclic esters for applications in ring opening polymerisation.
 
Mathew began his PhD under the supervision of Professor David Haddleton in October 2006 and graduated in July 2011 after successfully defending his thesis titled "Novel Strategies in the Synthesis of Polymer-Protein Conjugates."
 
He now works as a PDRA jointly with Professor David Haddleton and Dr. Matthew Gibson. His work focuses on the development of new glycoconjugates and methods for the purificaiton of pluripotent stem cells on a Knowledge Transfer Secondment joint with Warwickshire NHS trust.
 
 

Research Interests
 
Mathew's research interests include the development of novel strategies to synthesise polymer-protein conjugates.
 
He is also involved in a number of projects involving the development of new "click" reactions, mechanistic studies of controlled radical polymerisations and new strategies for the synthesis of diverse polymeric architectures.
