Integrated sensing and communications for 6G communications

This project will investigate methods to support dual functions - communications and sensing - using the same spectrum, and therefore offering improved efficiency and new services.

Wireless signals have been mainly used for communications in the past decades while radar systems have been developed separately. The same radio spectrum can be used for both communications and sensing the environment and human activities, and this gives rise to the integrated sensing and communications, one important scenario in the sixth-generation communications systems.

In this project, you will study advanced signal processing techniques and artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms to allow the co-existence of communications and sensing, and achieve the best performance tradeoff of the dual functions.
