Year 1 Modules

Here you will be able to explore the Year 1 modules for your programme. CORE indicates that a module MUST be taken and OPTIONAL indicates that you may choose this module. Each course has different availability in terms of how many modules you may select, but we will tell you all about that in the Year 1 Module Fair on 5th October 2026. We will also give you the deadlines for making your selections. For now, it is useful to explore which modules exist as options for your programme, the indicative content and assessment modes. Perhaps make a list of the ones you are interested in and any questions you may have. You'll have plenty of opportunity to ask staff and other students who have previously taken the modules.

Each module code will link you to the Module Catalogue page where you can explore the Module. You'll also be able to search the module codes in Moodle to view content.

**LF122 is a 0-credit module that you will need to take if you do not have a sufficient grade in A level Chemistry or equivalent. It will not be CORE if you do have sufficient Chemistry.
