Mathematical Modelling
Mathematical modelling provides us with a vital tool for both prediction and understanding. An accurate (and often complex) model allows us to explore the range of possible future scenarios and plan against unwanted future outcomes. In contrast, simpler models provide us with an opportunity to test our insights and intuition about a problem, often running experiments in silico. The Ecology and Epidemiology group at Warwick utilises mathematical models for both of these purposes.
