Research Title:

An examination of trends in antibiotic prescribing for urinary tract infections among women in English primary care and the impact of area-level deprivation and ethnicity on trends

About my research:

Urinary tract infections affect women the most and have a lifetime prevalence of 50%. However, current evidence is conflicting in the variation of antibiotic prescribing trends and the impact of ethnicity and area-deprivation level of patients registered at a practice. My research aims to explore the variability between GP practices in their propensity to prescribe antibiotics for UTIs among young adult women and post-menopausal women who suffer from uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
