My research interests are primarily around educational technology and digital technologies in resource poor settings. My research activities include the use of virtual patients to support clinical decision making. I have significant experience working in Malawi and Tanzania as part of the ETATMBA project funded by the European Commission, enhancing the training and professionalisation of clinical officers.
As a Professor at Warwick Medical School, I led the creation of the BSc in Health and Medical Sciences, the first undergraduate programme in the school's history. As Deputy Chair of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine, I guide the Faculty-level implementation of the University Education Strategy, fostering strategic educational themes and enhancing the student experience. In my role as Director of Warwick in Africa, I give strategic direction and leadership to a partnership of schools and universities in South Africa, Ghana, and Tanzania to enhance teacher professional development to raise achievement and attainment in English and mathematics for learners in the classroom.
