Research Title:
Uncontrolled hypertension among people with comorbidities in sub-Saharan Africa
About my research:
Uncontrolled hypertension is the most important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and the leading cause of death worldwide. It is predicted that the number of people with hypertension will increase and a large proportion of this increase will occur in developing countries. Current literature shows that relatively little is known about uncontrolled hypertension with comorbidities and its correlates in sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose of the proposed PhD research is to address major gaps in knowledge about (i) the scope in the burden of uncontrolled hypertension among adults residing in sub-Saharan Africa and (ii) the factors associated with uncontrolled hypertension.
