Leica DMi8 widefield fluorescence microscope

Page in progress.

Leica DMi8 inverted widefield microscope.

  • Monochrome camera for epi-fluorescence imaging
  • Colour camera for brightfield (e.g. good for histology)
  • Objectives:
    • 4x 0.13NA air (HC PL FLUOTAR)
    • 10x 0.45NA air (HC PL APO)
    • 20x 0.8NA air (HC PL APO)
    • Note: there's no oil objective so the maximum theroretical resolution is with the 20x air objective and is ~390nm laterally (XY) and ~1600nm axially (Z). But it may need magnifying to get Nyquist sampling to reach this resolution and to do deconvolution.
  • Filters for blue/green/red/far-red
  • Automated stage
  • No environmental controls (i.e. no heating/CO2), so fixed or room temperature samples only
