It is well known that there is not a great deal of medical research pertaining to the Black African-Caribbean community in Britain of which I am one as someone born in this country, so jumped at the opportunity to become involved. Staying on the sidelines instead of putting oneself forward was never an option for me as any research that begins to seriously and genuinely take on board, recognize the failings/shortcomings and anomalies with a determined effort to redress the balance so when the project is completed does not gather dust on the shelves has to be applauded. Fundamental issues have got to be implementation, monitoring and review.’
