Education at WAH
Education within Warwick Applied Health (WAH) is characterised by scale, innovation and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and student outcomes. Delivered by a large and diverse community of educators, clinicians and researchers, our educational portfolio spans undergraduate and postgraduate provision, alongside a rapidly expanding Continuing Professional Development offer. This breadth enables Warwick Applied Health to respond dynamically to workforce needs across health and care systems, while maintaining the highest academic standards.
WAH educators make substantial contributions to the MBChB graduate-entry medicine programme, delivering core teaching in public health, research methods and clinical education. Alongside this, the BSc in Health and Medical Sciences (HMS) provides a distinctive interdisciplinary undergraduate experience, integrating biomedical science, social science and population health. The programme emphasises case-based learning, research training and real-world application, with strong outreach activity and growing demand reflecting its relevance and appeal.
At postgraduate level, WAH leads a comprehensive and high-performing portfolio including Public Health (MPH), Medical Education, Health and Care Research, Advanced Clinical Practice, Advanced Critical Care Practice, and programmes in Interdisciplinary and Translational Biomedical Research and Reproductive Science. These programmes are characterised by excellent student satisfaction, strong international recognition and close alignment with workforce priorities. Teaching is research-informed and practice-oriented, ensuring that learners engage with current challenges in health systems, policy and service delivery.
Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes provide flexible, modular learning tailored to healthcare professionals across career stages. The offer supports clear progression from standalone modules to full postgraduate awards, enabling continuous professional development and upskilling. Our approach is collaborative and outward-facing, reflecting a strong ‘One Warwick’ ethos and alignment with evolving workforce and system needs.
Educational delivery is underpinned by a strong culture of pedagogical innovation and scholarship. Staff actively contribute to curriculum development, integrate real patient narratives into teaching, and produce high-quality research in medical education. This ensures that teaching is continuously enhanced by evidence and that students benefit from an engaging, inclusive and intellectually rigorous learning environment.
