Training and skills development

Many of our academics use technology as a part of their teaching, whether creating digital learning materials for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle, creating interactive experiences in the lecture theatre, setting students technology-enabled tasks, creating virtual patients or delivering online self-assessments. As well as having access to software and hardware, you need the confidence, skills and ideas to make effective use of technology. This is where the academic technology team can help. We can provide expert guidance, signpost training opportunities and connect you to people who are doing similar things.

Academic Development Centre (ADC)

Staff are supported to develop their understanding and skills in the use of technology enhanced learning through a combination of methods including the Academic & Professional Pathway Technology Enhanced Learning (APP TEL). This pathway includes a variety of shorter courses (offered face-to-face and online), PGA TEL which is a year long postgraduate award (available as either an accredited, or non-accredited programme).

All participants on PCAPP will be required to complete a workshop: Introduction to technology enhanced learning. This workshop will be offered in a self study format, with the opportunity to engage in asynchronous discussion with colleagues and the course tutors during certain periods in the academic year.

The Extended Classroom initiative

ADC have collaborated with ITS to work on promoting the use of TEL through the Extended Classroom initiative. Take a look at how you might extend your classroom with Warwick's growing suite of well supported technologies.

ITS deliver a range of teaching and course management sessions and these are regularly delivered in the Gibbet Hill computer room. Please check the course catalogue for latest availability.
