Homa Elechi

Introduction

Name: Homa Elechi

Year of study: Second year

Why did you pick BSc Health and Medical Sciences?

I was really interested in the integration between the health sciences and medical sciences. I’ve only been comfortable with the medical sciences part in terms of what I did for my A Levels – I did biology and chemistry. However, the health sciences part has really opened up my mind to public health, epidemiology, psychology and economic sides, so it’s really interesting to see how that can all be integrated with medicine.

How have you found the course so far?

I’ve really loved the course! I’ve loved how interesting the level of content is – there have been some parts that have been challenging in terms of memorising and knowing all the steps and all the molecular parts – but it has been very interesting so far. Especially the integration.

What is your favourite thing about the course?

The optional modules that we’re allowed to pick. So I’m doing clinical skills which has given me a better insight to what life is like as a clinician and what the job could be like.

Do you know what you would like to do upon completion of the course?

I want to do postgraduate medicine at WMS – that’s why I’ve really enjoyed the clinical skills – I picked both of my optional modules in the Medical School because I don’t want to do anything else but medicine.
