Why did you decide to apply to Health and Medical Sciences at Warwick Medical School?

I picked BSc Health and Medical Sciences because I want to study postgraduate medicine at WMS. This course will provide me with a strong foundation in medical science, all while enriching my perspective on health problems with health sciences. The integrated curriculum will give me the essential knowledge, research skills, and critical understanding needed to excel in my future medical career. By choosing this pathway, I'm strategically positioning myself for a successful application to graduate-entry medicine, developing a comprehensive understanding of human health that goes beyond traditional medical training.

The main reason I came to studying in the UK is because of the learning environment, where it is less pressured and more interactive compared to more traditional teaching methods in Hong Kong.

How have you found the transition to life and study in the UK?

Overall I think I have adapted quite well to life and study in the UK, however I do miss food from home at times.

How have you found the course so far and your overall Warwick experience as an international student?

HMS has been a knowledge packed course. My highlight was being one of Dr Dawn Collins’ assistants (along with a few other course mates) in her Christmas lecture in the Butterworth Hall in 2024.

Have you been involved in any extra-curricular activities?

I am a member of SingSoc and sometimes participate in their showcase events where people sign up to perform in front of a crowd, it really helps build confidence. I also joined the SSLC last year and am chairing it this year. It is a great opportunity to get to know everyone in the course at this role is to feedback student opinions to staff and this helps build confidence along the way.

What tips do you have for other international applicants?

My best advice is to never forget to stay in touch with people back home even if you have new friend groups, they are your best moral support if you talk to them regularly.
