MB ChB student wins Royal College of Psychiatrists essay prize
Third year Warwick medical student Sujaree (Mew) Kuenghakit has been named joint winner of the 2025 Royal College of Psychiatrists medical student essay prize.
Her essay, ‘The Ripple Effect: Exploring the Intergenerational Impact of Perinatal Mental Health Disorders’, draws on her experience as a psychotherapist working with mothers and infants.
Mew says: "I wanted to convey something I’ve felt strongly in this work, that psychiatry at its best goes beyond naming and treating disorders. It is also about recognising and addressing the unseen forces that shape a life from its earliest moments."
Mew was presented her prize at the Royal College of Psychiatrists' conference in November, alongside fellow WMS student and joint winner Grace Fisher.
