What does your role involve?

I lead on professional development for teaching (faculty development) to support the MBChB, particularly for clinical teachers working in our partner NHS trusts and primary care. The faculty development team provide a range of training and professional development for teaching, including our induction for new clinical teachers, CBL facilitator training, teaching observations and our annual MBChB Education Conference. I also lead the SSC1 Peer Assisted Learning: An introduction to Medical Education, and am Course Director for the Masters in Medical Education Programme.

When I'm not at work you can find me...?

Pre-COVID, you could find me at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve photographing birds or tucking into a delicious veggie breakfast. These days, you may find me at our Local Nature Reserve, missing the breakfasts, or watching Doctor Who (run out of episodes!). I also enjoy textile art – though rarely have time to make anything.

What do you do?

I work with our partner NHS trusts providing faculty development sessions. I run the induction for new MBChB Clinical teachers and help develop the teaching skills of all our clinical faculty. I also teach on the MMedEd and the SSC1 in Peer Assisted Learning.

What does your role involve?

I get involved with anything learning design and technology. This ranges from technical and pedagogic queries to workshops, project work and staff development initiatives. I feed into central University developments related to learning technology and share best practice from the MB ChB with the wider community as well. Close collaboration with students, student groups and student feedback analysis are great ways to improve the student experience.
