Assessment
Assessment
We’re here to help you reach your full potential, with plenty of support, regular feedback, and clear guidance every step of the way. You’ll receive constructive input throughout the course, helping you grow both academically and professionally.
At the end of each teaching block, you’ll take part in formative assessments designed to guide your learning. Summative assessments comprising both written and clinical elements take place at the end of each year and determine your progression.
You’ll also build a personal e-portfolio which logs and demonstrates your progress, just like the one you’ll use as a junior doctor. It’s a powerful tool for tracking your development, reflecting on your strengths and areas for growth, and shaping a learning experience that’s tailored to you.
Medical Licensing Assessment
The GMC (General Medical Council) Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) is designed to ensure that all doctors practicing in the UK meet a consistent standard of proficiency. This assessment tests core knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary for safe medical practice.
The MLA is a two-part assessment made up of an applied knowledge test (AKT) and a clinical and professional skills assessment (CPSA). UK medical students must pass the MLA as part of their degree before joining the medical register.
You can find out more about the MLA for UK students at www.gmc-uk.org/mla.
