The International Society of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves award was established in 2010 and recognises a single individual who has contributed continuously to the goals of the IRMMW-THz Society over a long period of time, and to the expansion of influence and organisation of their technical community. As well as being the first female winner, Emma is also the youngest person to ever receive the award.

Emma says: "I am delighted to receive this honourable award and have enjoyed being actively involved in the IRMMW-THz community for over 20 years. I found the community very welcoming during my PhD days and continue to do my best to give back and continue the legacy!"

Emma will travel to the 2024 conference in Perth, Australia where her prize will be presented to her.
