Research Description

My current research interests are focused on THz optical properties of carbon nanotubes and extreme nanowires encapsulated inside ultra-narrow single-walled carbon nanotubes. THz-TDS in combination with UV-Visible and Raman, fluorescence spectroscopy results would provide a broad picture of the electro-optical characteristic of different systems as semiconductors, ferroelectrics and magnetic materials. Thus, the main aim of this project is to investigate nanotubes containing SnSe, HgTe, SnTe, GeTe, Ag and AgCl under the standard or high amplitude THz field.
In the past, I studied the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the optical fibres doped with rare earth ions: Er, Yb, Tb. Our research allowed to construct of a liquid-core laser. The calculations show an increase of pump efficiency in such a laser. It is done on the basis of interaction between electromagnetic waves and resonance electronic ion states of rare earth ions, both in the presence and absence of a magnetic field.
