PhD research studentships available
Please get in touch if you are interested in a PhD or MSc by Research in the group. We have two funded PhD studentships available for autumn 2020 start, titled Automation of THz imaging for Medical Diagnosis and An ultrafast shakedown of defects in diamond using intense infrared pulses. A number of other projects are suitable for motivated students looking to complete an MSc or a summer research project.
Congratulations Dr Mosley!
Many congratulations to Connor, who finished his PhD in style on the 11th December. Connor's work on "Enhanced Polarisation Control and Extreme Electric Fields: Advances in Terahertz Spectroscopy Applied to Anisotropic Materials and Magnetic Phase Transistions" has led to a new beamline at WCUS and a new type of terahertz radiation source.
Fantastic work, Connor, and best of luck for your next steps!
Welcome to Ziyi (Eric) Hu
A very warm welcome to Eric Hu, who has started his PhD on carbon nanotubes, supervised by Jeremy Sloan in Microscopy and James.
Congratulations to Daniel Coxon on winning first prize in the poster competition at Warwick Chemistry's ChemContext event. Daniel is working on defects in Diamond at the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and presented a poster titled "The Crystal Maze".
Welcome to our new PhD students - Hannah, Helen, Edward and Xavier
A very warm welcome to our 4 new PhD students, who have just started their THz adventures! Hannah and Xavier are working with Emma on THz imaging and biomedical applications, while Helen (supervised by Becky) and Edward (supervised by James) are studying the wonderful world of perovskite semiconductors. Best of luck.
Congratulations to Michele on his thesis prize
Many congratulations to Dr Failla, who was recently awarded one of the Faculty of Science doctoral thesis prizes. Well done, Michele!
Welcome to Qiushao (Sarah) Sun
We'd like to welcome Qiushao (Sarah) Sun to the group in Warwick. She is completing her PhD at CU Hong Kong, in Emma's group, and will be visiting the department for a year.
Funded PhD positions are available to work with Emma MacPherson on "Fast Terahertz Imaging and Spectroscopy", and with James Lloyd-Hughes on "Ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy of novel perovskite photovoltaics". Please get in touch if you are interested in a PhD or MSc by Research in the group. These are funded studentships lasting 3.5 years, and are available to UK and EU students.
Congratulations to Dr Failla!
Many congratulations to Michele, who successfully defended his PhD thesis recently. He will start a postdoc at TU Delft in October, working with Prof. Laurens Siebbles.
Welcome to new PhD students
Welcome to Maria Burdanova and Maurizio Monti, who started their PhDs in October and November 2016, respectively. Maria will work on high-field THz spectroscopy, and Maurizio with optical pump-THz probe spectroscopy, at WCUS
