Degree Ceremony

Invitation to Degree Ceremony

During October the University Academic office will send out invitations to the Degree Ceremony for all candidates that they believe are/might be eligible to graduate in January.  This invitation will, of course, be conditional on you successfully completing the degree before the ceremony.  The invitation will ask you whether you wish to:

1.      Graduate in person (i.e. attend the ceremony at Warwick in January)

2.      Graduate in absentia (i.e. do not attend the ceremony)

3.      Defer your graduation to July

NOTE: if you do not reply to this invitation, then you will automatically graduate in January in absentia.  Once you have graduated, you cannot then defer your attendance at the degree ceremony to July.  It is therefore essential that you confirm your correspondence address before you leave the University.

If you have not received your invitation to the degree ceremony by the end of November, you should urgently contact the graduation office  to ensure that you graduate when you wish and receive your degree certificate in due course.

Full informaiton about the degree ceremonies can be found on the main Univerity web-site.

Graduation

The official University graduation ceremonies are held in January and July, in the Butterworth Hall.  The Academic office (not WMG) issues Degree Certificates once you have graduated.  If you attend the degree ceremony, then the Certificate is issued as you leave the stage.  If you graduate in absentia, (and have responded to the degree ceremony invitation) the degree certificate will be sent to you by registered mail after the ceremony.  If you have not responded to the invitation, the University will assume that the address held is incorrect, and the certificate will NOT be issued, until you contact the graduation office, confirming the address to which it should be sent.
