Stratford Upon Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon is a market town with more than 800 years of history, and was the birthplace of William Shakespeare in 1564. It contains many historical buildings and is also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure, accommodation and shopping experiences.

You can visit not only Shakespeare's Birthplace but that of his wife Ann Hathaway and his mother Mary Arden. All of these houses have been beautifully preserved. Holy Trinity Church on the banks of the river is Shakepeare's final resting place, where he is buried alongside his wife.

Or take a boat ride along the River Avon and enjoy the scenery as you pass the world renowned, newly renovated Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
