Warwick Receives Important Book Donation

George K. Hunter, Emeritus Professor at the Department of English and Literature at Yale University, visited the Modern Records Centre (MRC) at Warwick last week to view some old books. However, the books weren't any old books they were important antiquarian books which form part of a collection that Professor Hunter donated to the University.

The First of Three Generations of the Same Family Studying at Warwick Graduates

Three generations of a Coventry family are celebrating their success after undertaking courses at the University of Warwick. 63 year old grandmother and community advocate Anne Skene, is to receive a certificate for her part in an innovative community research project 'Making Our Voices Heard', while her daughter Ellen Skene, 32 nears the end of her postgraduate degree in Sociology and her 22 year old granddaughter, Kirsty Saunders graduated with a BA in Creative Writing, on Friday 16th July.


Catering Projects – Summer 2004

Kaleidoscope - this project will involve a complete redesign of the layout of the kitchen, service and seating areas. This will mean complete closure of the cafe from 2nd August.

If your name didn't make it onto the pass boards this summer, chances are you have a little extra coursework or an exam or two to sit before returning for study for next year. As a student here, you are almost certainly a bit of a bright spark who has let themselves down with revision planning and practise, rather than someone who is unable to get through the exams through lack of ability.

Surgeons Get 'Stress' Help from Warwick

A test devised in the 1930s to gauge the stresses of superchargers on wartime spitfire fighter planes has recently been used to measure stress of a different kind. Researchers at the University of Warwick have found a way of using the photoelasticity test to model the stress of surgical procedures on an aortic aneurysm. An aortic aneurysm is the dilatation (widening or bulge) of a portion of the aorta.

Student Folklore Transforms into Edinburgh Performance

Love and Other Human Tragedy, the student produced folktale book, has been transformed into physical theatre and will soon be presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Launched last May, the first ever University of Warwick student book retells tales that once upon a time came from lands far far away from here.

First Foundations

Warwick's first group of Foundation Degree students graduated this summer alongside 101 part-time and full-time 2+2 Degree Programme graduates. Twelve students on the Community Enterprise and Development Foundation Degree, run in partnership with North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, graduated this summer along with one student from the Early Years Foundation Degree.

RAE 2008 - Assessment Methodology and Panel Make - Up

The objective of the RAE is to assess the quality of research taking place in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK. Funding is subsequently awarded on a sliding scale of excellence. It is designed to encourage HEIs to improve research standards, and the RAE 2008 will judge a full range of applied and practice-based research.
