Nobel Prize for Warwick Economics graduate

The 2016 Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded today to Professor Oliver Hart, a graduate – and honorary graduate – of the University of Warwick.

50th Anniversary cookery book shows new students the art of ‘Simple Scoff’

Students and academics from the University of Warwick, working with the Vice-Chancellor’s wife Lynda Thrift, have put together a cookery book as a part of the University’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Simple Scoff: The Anniversary Edition. The book offers cheap, simple recipes and cooking tips from around the university. It also features illustrations and poems by former students and staff such as BBC media correspondent Torin Douglas.

Public Festival of the Imagination marks 50 years of University of Warwick :

A TV chef, a pioneer of Coventry’s musical heritage and a polar explorer and will be helping to highlight the contribution the University of Warwick has made at home and abroad since it was established 50 years ago.


Alumni day 2013: The Happiness Effect

This May over 700 Warwick Alumni will be returning to campus for Alumni Day 2013. Taking place on Saturday May 18, this year’s event will be different from previous with the day’s activities focusing on the theme of ‘Happiness’.

Carlos Fuentes, 1928-2012

Carlos Fuentes, who died on May 15th 2012, was an internationally well-known and critically acclaimed Mexican novelist and honarary graduate of the University of Warwick. Professor John King from the School of Comparative American Studies reflects upon his life and achievements.


Universities Week 2012

Universities Week 2012 takes place from 30th April – 7th May and will see universities across the UK taking part in events and activities to showcase the excellence and the achievements of our universities, students, staff and alumni.


VandeLinde Inaugural Lecture in New York

Distinguished Warwick alumna, Baroness Amos, will deliver the inaugural VandeLinde Lecture in New York on 3rd November. Baroness Amos is the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, and will deliver the lecture at BBC Worldwide, New York. The new lecture series has been established to honour Professor David VandeLinde, who served with distinction as the fourth Vice Chancellor of the University of Warwick.


Warwick in Africa on the BBC

This weekend, the BBC will be broadcasting a 30 minute documentary film following Warwick students on their “Mission for Maths” as part of the Warwick in Africa programme.

The Knowledge Exchange takes place on the University campus on Saturday 21 May and brings together a programme of exciting and interactive talks, discussions, workshops and entertainment. WBS Inaugural Lecture Series

In the last four months, Warwick Business School (WBS) has appointed 13 new professors across a broad range of subject areas and expertise. Dean of WBS, Professor Mark Taylor, has established an Inaugural Lecture Series, to be delivered by these new professors on a topic related to their research.
