Unpublished women writers from across Africa are being given a platform thanks to an online network and established by a University of Warwick academic.

The University of Warwick has just announced that it has surpassed the goal it set of raising £50 million to invest in research and teaching by the end of its 50th anniversary year in 2015.

The quality of education in one of South Africa’s most disadvantaged districts is set to be transformed following a visit to the country by a team from the University of Warwick. A small group of staff spent last week (23 Jan – 1 Feb) in a variety of schools in the Vhembe district of Limpopo, hosted by members of the Limpopo Province Education Board and staff from the University of Venda (UNIVEN) – the partner institution for the project.

Researchers from the University of Warwick are travelling to South Africa for a project which aims to transform the quality of education in one of the country’s most impoverished regions.

Warwick in Africa ("WIA"), an innovative volunteering programme from The University of Warwick which has now benefited over 160,000 young Africans, has launched an inspiring new film with BBC 6 o’clock news presenter George Alagiah.

This weekend, the BBC will be broadcasting a 30 minute documentary film following Warwick students on their “Mission for Maths” as part of the Warwick in Africa programme.
