Sam joined the University in June 2005 as Head of Finance, Warwick Ventures and transferred to the Finance Office in September 2008 as Head of Finance, Departmental Services Team. He was appointed to the role of Deputy Finance Director, Academic in May 2013 charged with providing operational and strategic leadership in respect of the provision of financial and contractual services for academic departments to enable the effective and efficient deployment of ARC’s £270m budget. His responsibilities changed in June 2014 to include Research Finance (transferred from RI&S) instead of the Contracts Team and in June 2016 with the creation of an PSG focussed team within DST (previously supported by the Group Accounting Team).

Sam is a graduate of the University of Southampton and a Chartered Accountant. Having completed his professional training with Deloitte in September 1994 he then held a number of finance positions in large multi-national engineering and manufacturing groups (including AGCO Ltd - the former Massey Ferguson plant in Coventry).
