Our Library Student Partners are current Warwick Students hired by the Library to help bridge the gap between students and staff, ensuring that the student voice is heard and represented. They use their experience and skills to help us deliver a Library service that enriches and supports all users.
"...a brilliant and rewarding experience." - Kaslinne, 3rd Year
UX Projects
We have worked on multiple projects with our Library Student Partners, collectingdata in order to improve and enhance our services.
Below is a small list of some of the techniques they've used to help us collect the data.
Guerrilla Interviews are short, snappy interviews that last between five to ten minutes. The questions are a mix of closed and open-ended questions which are designed to gather crucial information about our current services and what changes our users would find beneficial.
Just as it sounds, observational data, is about observing how users use or interact with specific items, services. or areas and noting the information down.
User Journey Mapping is a way of understanding how our users do specific tasks. The idea behind this task is to decide if the service is being utilized in the most efficient way, and if it is not, what we can do to improve it so that it is.
Cognitive Mapping is a technique that is used to find out which aspects of a service are deemed as the most important to our users. It allows us to gain an insight into the emotional viewpoint of our users and thus gives us an idea of what changes need to be made.
Focus Groups are used to gain information from a small group or groups of users. One of the uses of this is to determine what changes are required, or whether the changes proposed are likely to work.
It is very important to us that all of our changes have the student at the heart. Thus, we also work with our Library Student Partners to ensure that any changes that are implemented in the Library, have had feedback from the Student Voice.
"The most welcoming and supportive team to work with." - Meifang, PGR
"Working at the Library has also helped me in my academic journey by giving me insight about support available from the Library."
We're proud to share that former Library Student Partner, Charlotte Smith, has secured her first graduate job in a Library in a Law Firm after being inspired by the work she did at the University of Warwick.
