Student Survey in Term 1 2025/26: Results
The Warwick Student Survey (WSS) replaces the previous Student Feedback Survey (SFS)and takes place each year in Term 1 and Term 3.
The results
The survey has a shorter question set, and aims to deliver insights into the overall student experience, from connection, support, belonging and AI. This year, the Term 1 (2025/26 academic year) Warwick Student Survey received 3,098 responses.
We have included key findings below:

92% of students feel safe at university.

91% of students feel respected by staff and 90% of students said they can be themselves.

80% of students agree they understand what is expected of them to succeed in their studies and 76% feel equipped for their studies.

Students feeling a sense of community within their own department is lower than previous years at approx 65%.

International students continue to report positive experiences from T3 24/25. 81% feel the university cares about international students, and 74% feel the university makes a significant effort to support them.

More than a third of Warwick students say Warwick has exceeded their initial expectations of what University would be like, often due to the friends they've made, social events they've attended, and their satisfaction with the course and teaching here at Warwick.

Respondents’ financial concerns remain consistent with previous terms, demonstrating that financial pressure continues to be part of the student experience. -
Students are most likely to be aware of the Wellbeing and Student Support Services, with roughly 75% of student respondents aware of their services. However, the student service with the most positive support rating from students is the Library, followed closely by support from individual department and personal tutors.
Special topics
During this iteration of the survey, the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage was explored further with some interesting insights gained:

3/4 of respondents indicated that they had used some form of AI with Generative AI being the most used

Of those who used AI all of them have used Chat based AI such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Deepseek etc.

Writing and grammar aids were the main uses of AI whilst translation or accessibility tools were also popular

Microsoft 365 Copilot is used by 81% of embedded AI users

Of those who do not use AI the main concerns were skill erosion, societal impacts and accuracy/bias
-
78% of students understand what counts as acceptable and unacceptable use of AI and 70% of AI users say they always declare its use
