Summer celebrations at Warwick

party buntingThis summer we have had a spectacular line up of celebrations happening on campus. There was our traditional Degree Congregations and Warwick Celebrates events (for those who graduated in absentia in 2020 and 2021). We also took part in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, providing an Athletes' village, and co-hosted the International Children's Games.

Read on to find out more about the events and the changes happening on campus. You can also read through our Summer Campus 2022 TimelineLink opens in a new window for activities occurring on campus. Due to there being a few events on campus over the summer, we have created this hub to keep you informed and we will be updating it regularly.

Warwick Celebrates

Between 5-15 July, we hosted graduation celebrations for our graduates who missed the chance to celebrate the completion of their degrees during the pandemic. The ceremonies were held in a large temporary Igloo structure on Cryfield Village car park.

Summer Graduation 2022

From 18-27 July, we held graduation ceremonies for this year's graduates, representing the first Degree Congregations on campus for more than two years. The ceremonies were held in Warwick Arts Centre.

Commonwealth Games

Hot on the heels of Coventry City of Culture 2021, our region was in the spotlight once again. As part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, there were close to 2,000 international athletes on campus as we hosted an athletes' village, between 28 July to 8 August. Now that the games have come to an end, athletes have departed campus and the clear-down phase is in progress.

International Children’s Games

In partnership with Coventry City Council, Coventry University and CV Life, Warwick welcomed the International Children’s Games (ICG) taking place on campus between 11-16 August, where we had over 1,500 young participants from all over the world.

We're delighted that Warwick was chosen to provide world-class training facilities for athletes taking part in the CWG and the ICG. Athletes were given access to use our multi award-winning hospitality venues, Warwick Conferences, our student accommodation and our world-class sport facilities including the Sports and Wellness Hub.
