Alicja joined CLL Social Work Team in February 2023. She is a qualified Social worker, Social Pedagogue, and English Philologue. She studied social work at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, in Poland, and Diaconia Polytechnic in Pieksämäki, in Finland as a part of the Socrates-Erasmus Scholarship. Then, she worked with disabled adults and children in a summer camp in America. She also worked for a few years as an English tutor in Polish nurseries and schools. After arriving in the UK, she completed the Consolidation module in Social Work Practice at Bournemouth University and achieved a Post Qualifying Award in Social Work with Children, Young People, Their Families, and Carers from the University of Birmingham. Before starting her academic role, she was a Restorative Practice Lead at Coventry City Council where she worked on embedding relational and restorative approaches among practitioners, children, foster carers, and families. Also, she was a Signs of Safety champion and Senior Practitioner in fostering team as well as a Supervising Social Worker for many years both in the statutory and private sectors. Her passion is Social Pedagogy, thus she co-created an innovative, 10 weeks training program for foster carers with support from Coventry University and funding from West Midlands Social Work Teaching Partnership in 2019/2020. Alicja also worked with unaccompanied minors at the Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children Team in Solihull and disabled children in Derbyshire. She is registered with Social Work England.
